A thought from Job and a prayer for our new president
11:04 AM Wednesday, November 5, 2008Greetings in the Name of the Most Holy Trinity:
I read this in my morning devotions and found it to be edifying.
I read this in my morning devotions and found it to be edifying.
"But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? . . . God understands the way to it, and he knows its place. For he looks to the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens. When he gave to the wind its weight and apportioned the waters by measure, when he made a decree for the rain and a way for the lightning of the thunder, then he saw it and declared it; he established it, and searched it out. And he said to man, 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.' "--Job 28:12; 23-28.
Also, a prayer for our new president:O LORD, our heavenly Father, the high and mighty Ruler of the universe, who from your throne beholds all who live on the earth; Most heartily we ask you, with your favor to behold and bless your servant Barack Obama, and all others in authority; and so replenish them with the grace of your Holy Spirit, that they may always incline to do your will, and walk in your way. Endue them plenteously with heavenly gifts; grant them in health and prosperity to live long; and finally, after this life, to attain everlasting joy and felicity; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior . . . (I Timothy 2:1-3).
